It's done! The outrigger canoe is ready and named "Velella" - a fitting name for a Marine-Biologist-Canoe, isn't it? The similarity is striking ;)
In short: - it's sailing very well!
- the crab claw sail (= sturdy tarpaulin) works great
- going to windward alright ...
- the outrigger is too heavy and soaked full of water (as expected...
), a better one will be built
- the temporary paddle is too small, steering and tracking will definitely be much easier with the paddle according to plans (which I'll build soon)
- it's not advisable to cruise for hours wearing only shorts and a Lycra Shirt after a cold front has just passed
